Vietnamese food, particularly in the North, is actually easy to eat for most people, as it isn’t too spicy or too sweet like some other Vietnamese cuisines or Asian dishes for that matter.

Whenever travelling in Halong bay, it is highly advised to carry with you a sun cream, a mosquito repellent, wet serviettes/baby wipes and/or hand sanitizers, aspirin/paracetamol, stomach troubles medicines, and windbreakers just in case the weather doesn’t cooperate.

No dress code is imposed onboard Ambassador Cruises. We advise you to take light garments in summer, sweaters and/or a jacket in winters as it can get pretty chilly, especially at night. A raincoat will be useful any time of the year. If you intend to do kayaking, plan to have a change of clothes as you will easily get wet.
As for shoes, choose what is appropriate according to the temperatures and bring along trainers or walking shoes for the excursions (visiting caves, hiking, cycling, etc.). Don’t forget your bathing suit!

Internet connection in Halong Bay can be very difficult as the area is surrounded by large karst mountains and can easily block the signals coming from the satellites, so instead of surfing the internet, we highly recommend you to take your phone off and enjoy the marvelous landscape in the Bay.

There are thousands of islands in Halong Bay, which ensures that the waters remain calm, much like the water in a lake. Even the most sensitive people very rarely suffer from seasickness, but it is wise to take seasickness tablets with you just in case.
