By expressway into the mountains (about 5 hours), with a free afternoon for a family stroll toward Cat Cat village (payable locally).

A day the kids will remember — valley treks to Lao Chai and Ta Van or the Fansipan cable car (tickets payable locally).
SAPA – NINH BINH
An early, scenic descent to Ninh Binh (about 6.5 hours), arriving early afternoon with the rest of the day to unwind.
NINH BINH (AT LEISURE)
Glide through Trang An or Tam Coc by sampan, climb the Mua Cave "dragon steps", cycle among rice paddies, or visit Bai Dinh pagoda and ancient Hoa Lu (activities payable locally).
